The two celebrities sued Wilms' company last year for using them and their images to endorse his colon cleansing products. Along with Just Think Media, Dr. Oz is suing around 40 other companies for the same thing. According to the fake web ads, the celebrity doctor was shown endorsing acai berry colon cleansers.

Remember, every time you even consider signing up for a free trial of anything, read the terms and agreements, even if it's long. The devil is in the details, as they say, and it couldn't be further from the truth in this case. Read the fine print so you don't get surprised by the free trial's cost and charges.

Repulican Twitter Accounts Hacked by Colon Cleanse Scammers

Like colon cleanse scammers don't have a bad enough reputation. Two Republicans became hackers' victims as their accounts were taken over by colon cleanse scammers. Florida Senate candidate Marco Rubio and Tennessee gubernatorial candidate Zach Wamp's Twitter accounts asked their followers to go get colon cleansing supplements. The accounts were phished, obviously. In one tweet, Rubio said: lol it's amazing. look and feel great with http://cleansefats.com. An hour later, a tweet saying that the account was hacked followed. It was easily handled since it was just a tweet for followers.

However, Wamp's account had a different story. It sent direct messages to everyone on his list telling them “hi. this works. i feel better and look great. http://bdgdfij.info” which redirected to a site that sold colon cleansing supplements.

This isn't the first time that someone got inconvenienced by colon cleanse scammers. However, one case pops to mind regarding colon cleanse scammers: the man who scammed the colon cleanse scammers and sent them his poop. This article is just pure comedy gold.

Power Colon Cleanse, a company that offered potential custmers a supposedly free trial of colon cleanse pills. Some readers of the site complained that they have allegedly been victims of a colon cleanse scam, prompting the prankster to extract vengeance...in the weirdest way possible.

I saw an advertisement on Facebook actually and clicked on it since I know a lot about the acai berry (that was the draw.)  The ad said you could get a bottle of acai for $1 or something like that.  So I ordered it.  It was the kind of website, too, that when you try to leave, they keep sending you pop-ups.  Anyway, I got it so that I could see what it was (there was no way of telling on the website..it was someone's personal website (or looked like it was) and she talked about how much weight she lost, etc.  Photos, the whole thing.

After receiving the bottle, I could see what was in it...other ingredients - I didn't look them up online but I believe one was a stimulant (of course.)

Then for some reason I read the fine print.  VERY SMALL.  And honestly, I usually don't.  And in this tiny pamphlet it said something like I'd be charged $35 for my monthly delivery.  I called the #, they did answer the phone right away and very graciously took me of the list.  It was very easy to cancel and I was never charged more then that one dollar.

The man, Corky Edwards, called customer service and asked for a refund. Instead, he got offered an extension trial. This happened a couple of times until Edwards found withdrawals and charges in his credit  card account.

It was good that Edwards found the charges soon because this means that he could claim a refund for the unauthorized withdrawals. The experience, however, teaches a lot of people to deal more carefully with online purchases. Oprah and Dr. Oz are suing for an unspecified amount of cash and have also asked a judge to have the ads removed ASAP.

Dual Action claims that its 50 herbs helps cleanse the colon naturally and safely. However, Edwards case demonstrates the fact that their claim is not as sound as it is. Thankfully, though, Edwards got the media on his side and pressured the manufacturers  to do something about Edwards' situation. Klee Irwin has agreed to reimburse half of the medical bills, since Edwards did not have insurance. The agreement between Edwards and Irwin has also settled that no formal investigations will be done in order to check for liability on Iriwin's part.

There is news that the FDA issued a black box warning on OsmoPrep, a product that markets itself as a pre-colonoscopy item. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration found that the product could cause kidney damage.

OsmoPrep and Visicol contains an ingredient called sodium phosphate, a substance that is known to cause major kidney damage. There have been a lot of cases and complaints that implicate OsmoPrep to kidney damage. Biopsy done to patients who have used OsmoPrep were revealed to have some kidney injury that is related to the use of the product. The cases have shown clear phosphate nephropathy, an indication that there is damage in the kidneys. Patients reported symptoms appeared a couple of hours after using the product while there are also those who claimed to feel something after 21 days of using it.

The product's manufacturer, Salix Pharmaceuticals have been asked by the FDA to conduct further tests and studies regarding the product. The government agency has has asked the manufacturer to issue warnings to go with the product.

Another product that has also caused the FDA to be concerned is called Fleet Phospho-soda from C.B. Fleet Co. This, however, is a product that is related to bowel cleansing and not really part of a pre-colonoscopy preparation. The FDA has asked the makers to attach a warning to the product so as to warn users about potential danger.

It actually increased weight-loss. So the scam of the century is introduced. Wu Yi Tea offered a free trial on their website charging only six ninety five for shipping and handling. IF after two weeks you felt dissatisfied with the product, cancel your agreement and not be charged for subsequent shipments. Many woman followed suit and in doing so found themselves in a hole; a deep dark hole with no money. Charges began to hit customer’s bank accounts for $19.95.

Wu-Yi’s parent company Living Lean in Las Vegas gave customers the run around about canceling orders and refunding their money. The customer rep who did answer the phone wouldn’t identify who she worked for. Many customers lost their money, but didn’t lose their weight. It was like many products today are; a scam. Pay attention to the kind of products which are available. Usually if it sounds too good to be true it is. If you’re trying to diet and you’re not making any progress. Drop the amount of carbohydrates and increase your protein and fiber. Increase water intake and calorie intake. But you haven’t read the fine print and you don’t realize what they really will wack your credit card with a couple ongoing monthly $80 a month charges!

 

So you try to cancel before the 15 day deadline but they don’t respond to email and put you on hold forever till you finally get a person offshore in customer service that says you have to send the whole bottle back in the 15 day period or some other catch.

 

Now you scramble with your credit card provider to stop payment but its to late they got you for at least another months of charges. So you now also need to cancel your credit card to ensure they don’t get you for another month.

 

There is a great video of a news person from 10news.com i-team reporter crew that talks with customers  that tried forever to get the address of an acai berry colon cleanse provider in Florida.  They went to the office and everybody scattered away like they were looking for eiligal immigrants or a drug bust.

this was a nice comment sent in about someone that was on the fence like most about these colon cleansers. 

I personally think colon cleansing is a great idea. If you stop to think about it, think about all of the food we've eaten in our lifetimes and all the nasty, harmful chemicals that are in them. Most of that stuff ends up in our colon and probably just gets stuck there. I've read online that some people have over ten pounds of waste in their colon. I've seriously been considering about going out and trying a colon cleansing product. I mean, How could it possibly hurt you? All that waste in your colon will probably hurt you in the long run. I personally don't know anyone who has tried a colon cleansing product, so I'll probably be the first.
