I've only recently taken an interest in my colon. It started a couple of years ago when I stylish young girl friend of mine told me that she was taking a week-long vacation to a spa that offered primarily colonic irrigation. I have not felt any positive health benefits from adding cleansing products.

Since I started doing these cleansing rituals, I have lost about 10 lbs. The most helpful aspect of the cleanse ritual is that it "resets" the amount of food that I think I need to eat in order to feel satiated. I now realize that I can eat very small portions of food during the day and that most meals offer a wild excess in terms of portion size and calories. Now when I go out to eat. I think about my colon. I avoid processed foods like bread and refined sugar. I avoid meat, thinking of it almost as a condiment. I eat lights of steamed vegetables and whole grains. Overall I feel that this new found attention that is paid to my plumbing has improved my mood, energy level, vitality and overall sense of well-being.
